Peaches + Berries

What a great week here in the South.  The weather has been beautiful and has put me in a great mood.  How about you? Has your weather cooperated with you this week too?  Even though the forecast is rain tomorrow, I am going to make a trip out to our Farmers Market and see what they've got available.  A friend who went last weekend mentioned that the peaches were out, so I may be on the hunt for those.  I am also planning to pick up some berries, if they are out.  Do you have any big plans for the holiday?  I plan to have a cook-out with my family and maybe catch a movie.  I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend and stay safe!

Red Inspiration

Today's inspiration from my Flickr Favorites comes from my love of the color red.  As you can tell by a lot of my photos and my new blog design, I love the color red!  It's the main color in my kitchen (along with light blue) and it is a color that has always made me feel happy.  I hope you enjoy today's red inspiration and that it will put a bit of happiness in your lives today.  Enjoy!

Morning Rain

The other day we had a pretty big thunderstorm right as I was going to bed.  When I left for work the next morning, my hydrangeas, which have started to deepen in color, had rain all over them.  I thought they were so pretty with the rain that I decided to snap a quick picture.  Here is the result.  Enjoy!

Vintage Treasure: Metal Muffin Tin

Today I wanted to share with you a vintage treasure that I found while looking through my baking cabinet last night. I found this metal muffin tin that I got from my grandmother a few years back when she was cleaning out her house. I had completely forgotten about it and decided that it would be the perfect accessory on my desk to hold some of my craft supplies. Doesn't it perfectly fit my tapes, twine and address stamp? I love that it has the perfect amount of cubbies for each of my items. A very cute idea indeed!

tems in cubbies: Address stamp - Paperwink, Pincushion ring - Art Nest , Red Twine - Bake It Pretty, Japanese masking tape - PrettyTape

Yellow Owl Workshop

I saw these fun postcards last week while on vacation over at the Yellow Owl Workshop. Wouldn't they be the perfect set to buy for the Benevolent Postcard Society group that I am involved with? I will definitely have to put these on my list of postcards to purchase and send out. There is also a lovely set of France postcards as well!

Pin It Forward

I just wanted to stop by and quickly let you know about a project that I am participating in. Pin It Forward is a new blogging series that sfgirlbybay has started in conjunction with a new online photo tagging site, Pinterest. I have signed up for this new series and one of the perks in participating is that all of the bloggers get to be guinea pigs in trying the new Pinterest site out. I am so excited and hope that you will join me on June 8 for my post titled "What Home Means to Me." Here is the schedule of who is participating and when. As you can see, there are a lot of talented bloggers out there participating. I hope you will stop by during their scheduled times and read about "What Home means to Them."

As you can tell, I've been doing a lot of work on the blog and hope to have it finished by next week. Until then, I hope you are having a great day!

Blog Under Construction

The blog will be under construction this week, so I won't be posting much if at all. Since I have the week off from my regular job, I will be working on a blog redesign, so if you see anything strange happening, that is why. You might also notice the layout looking odd or different pictures in weird places, but not to worry! I am hoping to get this done all next week so that I can start afresh on the 24th. Until then I hope you have a great week!

Wedding Fun + Craziness

I can't wait to spend tons of time with three of my favorite people this weekend. Here we are after an orchestra concert back in college, just a few years ago. It seems like forever since I've seen any of them and I'm so excited to be spending the weekend in celebration of Sara's marriage. Be back next week sometime!

Stylin' in Pink

Earlier in the week, I happened upon a gorgeous wedding photographed by Parris Whittingham of New York. I couldn't help but share this shot of the bride's grandmother prior to the ceremony. Doesn't she have the best outfit on? I LOVE IT! I hope you have a great weekend full of fun!

Pinwheels

I loved this fun spring party I saw yesterday over at Once Wed. Aren't the pinwheels over the table cute?

Joules Traveling Outfit

I start my vacation this week and I can't wait! I am traveling up to the Chicago/Northern Indiana area for my friend Sara's wedding (remember her Save-the-Date postcards and Wedding Invitation?). In honor of my vacation, I decided to put together a great ensemble fit for travel. These pieces all come from the British clothing company, Joules. I recently found Joules via my UK Country Living Magazine and have been coveting everything they offer. A great mix of classic pieces that every woman should have and they offer classic colors mixed in with a bit of whimsy. I hope you enjoy their line as much as I do!

Hydraneas in Bloom

I took a couple of quick shots this weekend of the pale green hydrangeas left from last weekend's baby shower. They were on their last leg and starting to wilt. They were so pretty in the morning light on Saturday that I just had to capture it. Hope you had a great Mother's Day and a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything fun?

Beachy Keen

I saw these image yesterday over on darling dexter and thought they would be perfect for the warm weather we are having here in the south. It's supposed to get up to 90 today but 'cool' down to 70 for the weekend. I'm so glad the weekend is finally here, aren't you? Do you have any plans for the weekend? My brother and I are going to cook lunch for my mom on Sunday for Mother's Day, but other than that, I am getting ready for my friend wedding next weekend. I hope you have as relaxing a time this weekend as these ladies seem to be having!

Turquoise Inspiration

Today's Inspiration from my flickr favorites are images with the color turquoise. In recent months, I've started to love this color quite a lot. It's a happy, vibrant color that mixes well with a lot of other colors and is versatile at being calming or exuberant. I've noticed it mainly in fashion and home design and a lot of people seem to pair it with browns and yellows. Today's images are calming and have helped me to calm down from the excitement of starting my vacation next week. I hope you enjoy them!

Pink Baby Shower

Over the weekend, a group of friends and I hosted a baby shower for a friend who has adopted the most precious baby girl. Our friends, Mike and Christie hadn't planned on getting their baby girl so soon, so when they got the call to come and pick her up, they didn't have anything ready for her coming home. We decided that we needed to have a shower for them so that they could get everything they could possibly need for their new bundle of joy. We put the shower together in a week and a half and I have to say, I think we did pretty well!

We decided to have what is called a Sip 'n See, where you come and meet the baby after it is born and sip on beverages. Since the time of the shower was in the morning, we decided to have light brunch hors d'oeuvres and two punches. We made Vanilla Petit Fours, Mini Cinnamon Rolls, Sausage Balls, Cheese Wafers, Tomato Basil Quiche, Lemon Tarragon Chicken Tartlettes and Fresh Fruit. Our punches were a Pink Lemonade Punch and Coffee Punch. We had so much fun putting it together and am happy to say that Baby Mallory got a lot of very cute things!
