I will be taking a small break from the blog over the next couple of weeks. I might post a couple of items if I have the time, but mostly I'll be on a blog vacation. I hope you all have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year and I'll see you back here in 2010!

Reindeer Cupcakes

I have seen these cute reindeer cupcakes over at Fancy Flours for a while now and thought how cute they would be to make for a holiday party. Very simple too if you use a box mix and icing. Go here to purchase the silver cups and reindeer picks and for a how-to!

Holiday Packages

Today I sent our big Christmas package full of presents up to our family in Indiana. I love mailing out that box every year knowing that it will arrive and be opened by our family for the holidays. This year I found these cute free printable labels over at Creature Comforts that I used to label the front of the box. They were made by Miss B of the Blah, Blah, Blahg. Go here to get them in free downloadable form and in both red and blue. Enjoy!

Holiday Party

This past weekend, I had a Holiday Party for some of my girlfriends. We each provided something to eat and had a fun Dirty Santa gift swap. I provided the location and the main meal which consisted of Nigella's Pumpkin and Goat's Cheese Lasagna, a spinach salad with warm bacon vinaigrette and the best french bread from Continental Bakery. The girls provided beverages and appetizers consisting of stuffed mushrooms, marinated cheese with basil and tomatoes, desserts of Bourbon Balls and the most amazing Peppermint Meringue Cake with Chocolate Buttercream from the most recent edition of Bon Appetit. Here are a few pictures of the night!

My candle centerpiece

The table festooned with red and blue.

Each place setting had a napkin that my mom embroidered with pale blue snowflakes.

Wall Art by Amy Butler

As you might know by now, I am in love with anything that is Amy Butler. So when I received an email yesterday launching her new wall art line, I knew I had to share it with you. What a great collaboration that Amy has done with Artaissance where you are able to purchase a piece of her art, pick a specific paper to have it printed on, pick the size you'd like and you're finished. Amy has done it again with some great prints and vivid colors. Here are a few that she has available but there are a lot more on the Artaissance website. Enjoy!

Tree Quilt

Last week I saw this cute Tree Quilt over at The Purl Bee. It was created by one of my favorite bloggers of lovelydesign, Sharilyn. Personally, I don't know how to quilt, but wouldn't this be such a cute one to make for the holidays? Maybe this could be my first quilting project, no?

Advent Calendar #2

Here is another cute DIY Advent Calendar that I saw in my December issue of Country Living. This calendar is made with match boxes covered in festive papers and has the days of December stamped on the sides. How fun is this!

A Day Off!

Today I am taking the day off to go holiday shopping and decorating with my mom. We are going to enjoy a fun-filled day and get into the holiday spirit. We will be visiting the Birmingham Botanical Gardens' Holiday Greenery Sale and then doing some decorating with our finds. We are also going to do a bit of holiday shopping and will explore to see what we can find. Be back tomorrow!
