I guess I'm on a bit of a London kick today. Maybe it's because my friend Andrew just got back from a 'quick' weekend trip or because I'm wishing I had been over there for the Chelsea flower show. Either way, I am wishing I were in Foggy Londontown today!
This week I saw a post over at AT's The Kitchn about a Swiss Cottage Farmer's Market in northwest London. Wish I were there to enjoy it too! Pop on over to The Kitchn and read all about it. Hope you have a great weekend!

Wedding Flowers
I have finally gotten things together and wanted to show you some of the flower and table arrangements my mom and I did for my cousin's wedding. In the end, I didn't get to help out as much (maid of honor duties called) but our whole family banded together and decorated the pavilion for the reception and the chapel for the ceremony. They did a great job!
These shots are of the altar area and the chair arrangements on the aisle. My aunt and cousin found this gorgeous gothic screen and mom accented it with two all pink peony arrangements. For the ceremony, we dimmed the lights and lit the candles in the screen.
For the chair arrangements, mom found a set of light pink placemats and napkins at the local antique store and stitched them together to make a pocket. Then she inserted the flowers into floral water tubes and put them into the pockets.
Here are some shots of the pavilion where the reception took place. You can see two of the three arrangements my mom put together. My cousin wanted some height, so we used white branches with hanging votives. We also did pillars with sand, moss and light pink pillar candles and the third arrangement (not pictured) were round glass bowls with floating pink peonies.
My cousin had a 'green' wedding theme so as favors she gave out trees and printed her programs on seed paper, to be planted later. My uncle painted the sign for the trees.
Here are couple of the professional shots of the reception area.
All photos are by me, except the professional shots and the shot of the program. They are by J.Frey Photography.

Handmade with Love
Yesterday I saw this wedding over on my favorite florist, HotHouse Design Studios' blog. Mandy Majerik, owner of HotHouse Design Studios, is one of my favorite local floral designers, and she is definitely making a name for herself. She does amazing, creative work and I love going into her shop and looking at all of the fun things she has available.
She worked on a wedding recently here in Birmingham at the historic Sloss Furnaces. This wedding looks like it was a lot of fun and had a lot of creativity blended into each detail. I love the handmade look of the wedding topper, don't you?

Anthropologie Sale!
This weekend I ran into our local Anthropologie and found out that their big sale was going on! I saw these items that I want to get and will probably go back this weekend to make my purchase. Did I mention how much I LOVE Anthropologie?

Antiquing
Since yesterday was Memorial Day and both my mom and I got the day off, we decided to run over to one of our local antique stores to look around. Crestwood Antiques is located on Crestwood Blvd here in Birmingham. They are one of my favorite local antique stores because you really have to search and dig through everything to find the good stuff.
I saw this portable bar case while we were there and thought it was funny.
I love how it has places for three beverages and then the shot glasses and regular glasses for serving. I bet it was used to take on picnics and outings at some point.
Mom then decided it would be funny to try on crazy hats!

Garden Cottage
It's been a light week around here this lately, as I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after vacation. I found these a couple of weeks ago via Coastal Living and thought if I ever have a garden, I'd love this cottage to go in it. Enjoy!

The Big Day
I'm back! Had a great time in Indiana and a wonderful time preparing for the wedding.
The wedding was gorgeous and I can't wait to show you some of the projects we did for it. Since I'm getting settled back into things, here are a few shots from the wedding by Jonathan Frey, the photographer. I love Jonathan's work and can't wait to show you more of it as we get more pictures from the big day. Enjoy!

The Venice Simplon-Orient Express
In honor of National Train Day this past Saturday, May 9, I wanted to share with you my favorite train, the Venice Simplon-Orient Express. It has been in service since 1883 and is still one of the most magnificent trains in existence today. My goal one day is to go and take the trip from London to Venice and re-live my favorite book (excluding the murder part)!

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day mom! You are as gorgeous now as when dad married you!
All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his. ~Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest, 1895

Back Home Again
Tomorrow I leave for Indiana for my cousin's wedding next week. It is very exciting to get to go home to Indiana to see my family and friends who I haven't seen in quite a while. I probably won't be able to post much next week, if any, because we'll be so busy with wedding preparations and visiting everyone. I leave you today with a few shots of my home state. Hope you all have a great weekend!
