Summer to Fall Dress: Two Ways

I recently purchased a cream colored linen dress on ASOS and since we've come into a cold snap here in the South, I have been searching for a couple of different ways to wear my new dress and still keep warm.  I've put together two different ideas: the first is a budget friendly version and I have a couple of the accessories already at hand.  The second version is more of a dream version of what I could get to pair with it.  Do you have outfits like this?  Ones that can go easily from summer into fall?

British Week - Designers

This week is British Week here on the vintage yankee and I will be sharing some of my favorite things British.  The week will culminate with a fun project tutorial and download (a sneak peek is in the British Week header above)!  Today we start with some of my favorite British designers.

First up is Cath Kidston.  I have loved Cath's style since the beginning.  Her use of bright colors and prints and her ability to mix old with new is amazing.  I love how she is able to produce items for her line that are new but evoke an old world, vintagey feel.  Even more exciting is that you can view the Cath Kidston website in American currency and have her items shipped to you here in the states!

Next up is Lisa Stickley London.  Lisa's fun, funky use of florals just makes me smile.  She uses a lot of basic black and light blue but adds in a smattering funky colors like neon pink and yellow.  Lisa just recently came out with a book, Made at Home that has lots of fun and simple sewing projects for your home.  Definitely a book to check out.

My last shop on this post isn't really a designer but is a very fun shop, Caravan.  A cute little shop in London, owner Emily has done an amazing job of putting together fun obscure objects from past and present to sell in her shop.  Even though I've never been to Caravan, just looking through their website gives you a feel of how fun the place must be.  Take a look at some of the style boards they have put together to give you an idea of what they shop is all about. (I really want to purchase the cute little caravan for my office!)

ASOS Curve

I have recently found ASOS the United Kingdom's largest online fashion retailer and have fallen in love with their Plus Size line, Curve.  I purchased a couple of pieces from them to see how they measure up to what we have here in the US.  I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised and thrilled that the two pieces that I bought fit very well.  I purchased a top and a dress and I will have to have the dress taken up a bit in the top but other than that, I love them.  ASOS is currently offering free shipping to the US so I took advantage of that as well.  I can't wait to place an order for more of their stylish pieces.  Here are a few of my favorites from the Curve line.  Enjoy!

Fall at Anthropologie

I am very much in love with the latest Anthropologie catalog and wanted to share with you a few of my favorite ensembles.  Fall has to be my favorite season because the weather starts to turn cool and you get to wear tights, sweaters and fun, cute boots!  I love wearing layers of clothing and drinking lots of tea and hot chocolate and going to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin for my front door.  What are your favorite things about fall?

Elephantine

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite jewelry designers on etsy.  Lately, I've been in love with the delicate work of Elephantine and have noticed that a lot of other blogs have too.  Rachel's pieces are simple, but elegant and they are items that you can wear with any outfit.  They are mainly silver and gold with some hints of color, but for the most part they are neutral in nature.  I'm sure you'll agree that her pieces are timeless.  You can find more of Elephantine's pieces at her shop or visit her at her blog.

Turquoise Pumps

I have been in need of some cute shoes for a while now and when I saw these three pairs over at Nordstrom, I knew that I was headed in the right direction.  Even though the prices on these three babies are on the higher side of my budget, it might be nice to invest in a good cute pair of heels.  What do you think?  Aren't these turquoise pumps beautiful?

Colorful Dresses

I love this shot of colorful dresses I saw yesterday via Black*Eiffel.  They featured a shot of yellows, pinks and oranges but my favorite is this shot of blues and greens.  What a great way to organize your space.

Joules Traveling Outfit

I start my vacation this week and I can't wait! I am traveling up to the Chicago/Northern Indiana area for my friend Sara's wedding (remember her Save-the-Date postcards and Wedding Invitation?). In honor of my vacation, I decided to put together a great ensemble fit for travel. These pieces all come from the British clothing company, Joules. I recently found Joules via my UK Country Living Magazine and have been coveting everything they offer. A great mix of classic pieces that every woman should have and they offer classic colors mixed in with a bit of whimsy. I hope you enjoy their line as much as I do!

My Spring Wedding Outfit

A couple of days ago I showed you an idea for an outfit that I was using as a model for a wedding that I am attending in a few weeks. While on the search for said outfit, I came across this cute blue dress at Target and knew that it was the perfect color for this wedding. I decided to pair it with these yellow shoes from Target that I bought last summer and so the color scheme went from there.

In order to stay within my budget, I also decided that I will use my new Liberty of London wallet as my clutch for the night because it has a pocket that I can put lipstick and kleenex in (because I ALWAYS cry at weddings). I also found a yellow scarf at Charming Charlie and a great set of clunky yellow beads online. All-in-all I think this outfit came together nicely, don't you think? Now, on to Chicago for the wedding!!!

Outfit for Spring Wedding

I am attending my friend, Sara's wedding in a couple of weeks and have been trying to decide what to wear. The wedding is going to be outdoors and in the late afternoon. Coral has been my color of choice lately and I think I am leaning that way. Here is an ensemble that if I had an bigger budget, I would purchase each piece in an instant. The hat is my favorite piece and part of the new Eugenia Kim line for Target (probably one piece that I WILL purchase!).

Billy Reid

Have you heard of fashion designer William 'Billy' Reid? A friend of mine put me on to him. Based out of Florence, Alabama, Reid was born and raised in the South. His pieces are simple, yet have a Southern flare to them. They are designed in earthy tones that evoke the simpler nature in life and you can see the detail Reid puts into each piece. Reid's line, aptly named Billy Reid, is mainly mens clothing but he also designs a few pieces for women too. He has five stores across the states and they all evoke the Old Southern charm. He is definitely a designer to keep your eyes on as his style grows and evolves.

Liberty of London for Target

I about had a bit of a freak out session earlier in the week when I found out that Liberty of London is launching a new line for Target. Liberty of London was founded in 1875 by Arthur Liberty and since then has been a leader in the design field. My favorite products from Liberty of London are the fabrics. The fabrics are bright, vibrant and have the most gorgeous floral detail. I have always wanted to make a floral spring dress out of a few yards of a Liberty print; but now I can purchase one at my favorite store, Target!

Liberty of London has teamed up with Target to create a line of products ranging from women's and men's clothes to teapots and cups to garden equipment to bed linens. The line launches March 14 and you can be sure I'll be there the day it comes out to fill my cart with every item available. It will be like buying a little bit of spring. So excited!

Inspiration Board

As part of my blogging class, we were asked to make in inspiration board about our blog. I chose to use lots of bright colors, include things I love such as tea, flowers, vintage jewelry & anything English. I also added fun details such as the yellow ric-rac, a piece of red twine and the cute little cherries at the bottom.

I loved this assignment as it got my creative juices flowing. I have decided that I need to do these more often. Maybe another one soon...
